Heleen Blanken’s work is about deconstructing some of the dominant dichotomies of our time, the traditional vs the modern, the natural vs the industrial and the analogue vs the digital. Rather than using found image sources, every bit of film and imagery she uses in her work is created by her from scratch. Her portfolio shows how respected she is in the clubbing field, as she both holds a residency at Amsterdam best cultivated gem Trouw, and also VJs at festival such as the techno mecca Awakenings, and the amazing Dutch Lowlands Festival. She’s also the accompanying VJ for Ben Klock and his Klockworks showcase. Needless to say, it shows that there are few finer artists than Heleen Blanken and she is not to be missed.
